What we collect
The only data we automatically collect from you while you browse our website are your IP address and your browser user agent string. Your IP address is needed in order for our servers to know where to serve you the webpages you want to access. Your browser user agent string is sent by your web browser to every website you visit, and tells us what browser you use, your operating system, and whether you’re using a mobile device—this allows us to know whether to serve you the mobile or desktop version of our website.
Your IP address and browser user agent string are recorded in the web server logs for abuse prevention. These logs are deleted after a maximum of 30 days.
We use WP Statistics to provide basic analytics data to understand how many views our website is getting. WP Statistics anonymizes your IP address and hashes them, preventing the use of analytics data to track individual users. WP Statistics doesn’t collect any personally identifying information about you.
We use hCaptcha to protect our internal login form and our public contact form to prevent abuse by automated computer programs. Your use of hCaptcha is governed by their privacy policy. No data will be collected by hCaptcha if you do not use the public contact form or attempt to log in.
We don’t use cookies to track you, and we don’t intentionally use any third-party cookies for advertising or tracking. We use cookies for important site functionality only, such as to keep users logged in, and for bot and spam protection.
If you use our contact form, information that you enter there will be collected. This information includes your full name, email address, and the contents of your communication with us. This information will only be used for the purposes of contacting you in response to your query, and will not be shared with anyone else without your explicit consent.
Where your data is stored
Our website’s servers are located in Canada. Web server logs and analytics data collected by WP Statistics are stored on our own website’s servers and is not shared anywhere else. Website backups are stored on Canadian servers hosted by Canadian storage providers.
How long we retain your data
Web server logs are deleted after a maximum of 30 days.
WP Statistics aggregates old data after 180 days. This is primarily done to reduce database size and speed up reporting; the collected data is always anonymized.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may change this privacy policy from time to time. If the policy is made more stringent, the new privacy policy will apply retroactively to previously collected data. If the policy is made more lenient, the new privacy policy will only apply to data collected after the publication of the new privacy policy, and will not be applied retroactively to previously collected data.
